Mitigate AI

Mitigate AI is our own product. People who have used one AI assistant for months have taught it a lot about themselves, and switching to another means starting from zero. Mitigate AI reads the conversation export a person downloads from ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, suggests what is worth remembering, and lets them approve, edit or reject each item before it goes anywhere. The approved result becomes a portable profile, called a Passport, that can be pasted into or connected to another AI tool.

The challenge

AI assistants keep what they learn about you inside their own product. Exports exist, but they are raw archives of every conversation, not something another assistant can use, and handing a whole archive to a new tool is a privacy problem in itself.

Build something that respects how personal this data is: nothing uploaded, nothing shared until the person approves it, every suggestion traceable to the exact words it came from, and an honest account of what each AI tool can and cannot accept.

What we built

We built Mitigate AI as a web app that runs entirely in the browser, with no account and no server holding conversations. It reads the 2026 export formats from each provider, stores the history locally, and finds candidate memories using transparent rules that skip questions, hypotheticals, quoted text and anything the assistant said. Each suggestion links to the exact quote it came from. Approved memories are compiled into a version sized for each destination, and a small local connector lets desktop AI apps that support the Model Context Protocol read the approved profile directly.

What makes it notable

The details that mattered.

Privacy shaped every decision. Sensitive details such as health, finances and credentials are flagged and kept out of exports by default, and the app never sends conversation text anywhere unless the person turns on optional AI analysis with their own key. Before launch it went through an internal security review: each problem had to be reproduced with a test before it counted, and most were fixed in the same round.

  • Imports ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini exports, plus pasted conversations, inside the browser
  • Suggested memories, each linked to the exact sentence it came from
  • Approve, edit, reject or erase every item; rejected items are not suggested again
  • Exports sized for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Markdown, plain text and JSON, with step-by-step instructions
  • A portable, checksummed Passport file with optional password protection, which can be re-imported without duplicates
  • A local connector that lets desktop AI apps read only what the person approved
