Missed Call Revenue Calculator

Put in your own numbers to estimate what unanswered calls could be worth. This is an illustration built on your assumptions, not a measurement of lost revenue.

Check your phone system or carrier call log for a real count.

How the estimate works

The calculator multiplies four numbers:

  1. Missed calls per week, converted to a month (multiplied by 52 and divided by 12).
  2. The share of those callers who were potential customers.
  3. The share of potential customers you would normally win.
  4. What a new customer is worth to you.

What it assumes

  • A missed caller does not call back. Some do. If half of yours try again, halve the result.
  • Your conversion rate would hold for these calls. After-hours callers may be more urgent or less serious than daytime ones.
  • You have capacity for the extra work. If you are fully booked, more answered calls mean a longer waiting list, not more revenue this month.

Treat the result as the upper end of a range. Its real use is deciding whether the problem is worth solving: if the number is small, it may not be. If it is several times the cost of fixing it, it probably is.

Getting better inputs

Guessing your missed calls is the weakest part of the estimate. Most phone systems and carriers can show unanswered calls by hour and day. A week of real data beats any assumption, and it also shows when you miss calls, which tells you what kind of fix you need.
